What We're Watching

Everyday Leadership is a brief, six-minute TEDx presentation by leadership development pro Drew Dudley that really brings home the importance of how the everyday actions of a leader can impact someone’s life. Recalling an encounter he had with a fellow student back in college, he explains how his actions and words had impacted her life for the better and how she was brave enough to tell him that several years later. But unable to remember exactly what he had said or did during their first and only exchange, he realized that sometimes simple actions and words can have a tremendous impact on someone’s life even though we may not realize it at the time.

With wit and humor Drew reminds us of one of the most fundamental truths about leadership—that what we say and do matters. And he shares several other leadership lessons that relate directly to The Leadership Challenge and the Practices of Model the Way, Enable Others to Act, and Encourage the Heart. If you’re looking for a good tool to spark a discussion around The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership®, try this TEDx video.
